Mondayitis cure: raw cacao mousse
If you could do with an injection of happiness into your Monday, raw cacao may be the ingredient to try. In one study, healthy adults who were given a dark chocolate drink to consume for 30 days experienced a higher rate of calmness and happiness than those who drank the placebo.
This recipe also has the added benefits of avocados, which are a wonderful source of vitamin E, beta-carotene and heart healthy monounsaturated fats.
Serves 4. GF, V, VG
2 medium avocados
1 ripe banana
1/3 cup 100% maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla bean paste
½ cup raw cacao powder
Berries and hemp seeds for garnish
- Place all ingredients in food processor and blend until you have a smooth, creamy mousse.
- Spoon mousse into 4 glasses and top with berries and hemp seeds.
- Keep in the fridge until you are ready to serve.
